The Windrush Poles – A forgotten corner of history.
It is not widely known that when the ‘HMT Empire Windrush’ arrived from the Caribbean at Tilbury Docks in 1948 it also included Polish refugees from World War II among the hundreds of passengers seeking a new life in the UK.
Although there is no direct Polish Air Force link, this immigration is a part of the history of the Polish community in Britain, as a result of the war, which should be better known. It is a forgotten corner of history that has been chartered in the attached article, which can be viewed by clicking this link.
